Healthy Lunchbox tips for Back to School!

School is back for our local families and we know how hard it can be to find healthy and nourishing yet tasty food to include in your kids lunch boxes!

Here we give some ideas on healthy snacks and lunch ideas that will leave lunch boxes empty at the end of every school day!

For recess, some yummy ideas include:

  • Homemade apple muffins, banana pikelet or muesli bars.
  • Keep it simple with fruit! Summer fruit is always popular with kids including peaches, nectarines, berries and grapes!
  • Cheese slices and biscuits.
  • Carrot and celery sticks and hummus.
  • Apricot and coconut bliss balls.

Lunch doesn’t have to be boring, test some of these ideas on your kids:

  • Keep sandwiches interesting with fillings including: Chicken, avocado and mayonnaise, roast vegetables and hummus or ham with cream cheese.
  • If your kids are sick of sandwiches, try sushi, a homemade savoury muffin or frittata slice.
  • Pizza Scroll
  • Wraps filled with chicken, avocado and cheese or salad.
  • Homemade sausage rolls or meatballs.

Get your kids involved in coming up with ideas on what to be included in their lunchbox and they will be more inclined to eat it all! And make sure you include a big bottle of water!
