Winter school holiday ideas for Padstow to Picnic Point kids
The winter school holidays have finally arrived and we’re sure that there are plenty of mums and dads from Padstow to Picnic Point wondering what to get up to with the kids over the next two weeks.
Luckily there are plenty of fun and affordable activities for the whole family to enjoy in the local area, whether you want to get out and about, or spend time indoors.
Local libraries – Bankstown City Council Libraries will be hosting a number of fun kids activities over the winter holidays including craft workshops, storytelling, games and more. Plus while you’re at the library you can borrow some books and DVDs to keep the kids entertained when they get home. National parks and reserves – For kids that like getting out and exploring nature there are plenty of local parks and picnic grounds to choose from including the Georges River National Park where there are some wonderful spots for walking, fishing or taking a boat out on the water.
Bankstown Arts Centre – There will be a wide range of cultural and art activities at the Bankstown Arts Centre these school holidays for those aged from 2 to 25 years. Contact the Arts Centre on 9707 5400 for more information and to make bookings.
Canterbury Olympic Ice Rink – Take the kids to the ice rink where they can experience a real winter wonderland. Local pools and leisure centres – Don’t avoid your local swimming pool just because it’s winter! Both the C&M Aquatic Centre in Padstow and the Max Parker Leisure & Aquatic Centre in Revesby will be open during the winter break and they have heated pools to keep swimmers warm. Contact your local pool to find out about activities taking place over the holidays.
Revesby Workers’ Club – A series of movie days will be held at the Whitlam Theatre over the holidays. Big Hero 6 (rated PG) is on July 1, Paddington (G) is on July 2, Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb (PG) is on July 7 and Penguins of Madagascar (G) is on July 9.
