Have your say on the Bankstown City Council Draft Budget 2015-2016

have your sayThe Padstow to Picnic Point community is being invited to have a say on the Bankstown Council’s 2015-16 Draft Operational Plan and budget.

One of the highlights in the draft budget is a record $12.4 million investment in improving the local road network, this is up almost $1 million from the last budget.

Other highlights of the budget include:

  • $1.3 million for footpath improvements, including Marion Street and Chapel Road;
  • $1.3 million towards the upgrade of Town Centres in Padstow (Gibson Avenue) and Greenacre (Waterloo Road);
  • $1.2 million for environmental works at Kelso Waste Management Facility and a commitment to confirm future options for the site by 2016;
  • $750,000 to continue Council’s plan to enhance the Bankstown CBD including a project to improve access between Memorial Oval and Bankstown City Gardens;
  • $750,000 to upgrade sporting fields and irrigation at Vale of Ah Reserve in Milperra;
  • Revitalise the precinct surrounding The Crest at Bankstown, including $350,000 to upgrade sporting field lighting;
  • $400,000 for the annual Community Grants Program and our award-winning Midnight Basketball youth program;
  • Refurbishment of the leash-free dog area at Vale of Ah Reserve as part of Council’s Paws in the Park Strategy; and
  • Health and safety initiatives to reduce illegal dumping, prevent graffiti, improve food safety and make private swimming pool fencing compliant.
